At the helm of Let Me STEAM stands a dynamic team of sisters deeply rooted in the vibrant city of Hickory, renowned for their unwavering commitment to community activism. Spanning three generations, our collective experience encompasses the perspectives of Generation X, two Millennials, and one sister belonging to Generation Z. Each of us brings a distinctive and invaluable perspective to the Let Me STEAM initiative, shaping its vision and translating its mission into tangible impact. United in our dedication, these remarkable women are determined to forge a lasting legacy and provide a nurturing space for minority students to discover their potential and make lasting contributions to their communities.
Rosalind, our eldest sister and world traveler, is bilingual and paved the way for her younger three sisters. Throughout her life, she has reflected on the support that was provided for her as she pursued various opportunities and yearns to be that for Hickory’s young students today.
Chandra, our CEO and visionary, is the mastermind behind Let Me STEAM. Growing up in Catawba County, Chandra always knew that she was destined to share and explore her light and her artistry, and hopes to help today’s youth find similar avenues. Her passion for educating young leaders stems from her love for her 14-year-old daughter, Jazmin.
Toni, our tiny but mighty activist, continues to inspire our sisterhood with her research and discovery. The innovation that she exudes plays out in the incredibly engaging activities and programs that she creates. Notable for her boldness and relatability, she strives to instill that confidence into others.
Last but not least is the youngest sister, Darian, who brings joy and optimism into our family with her most endearing soul. Hickory has given her so much and she is thankful that she has been able to give back and advocate at such a young age. Through her activism, she hopes to inspire others to be brave, go the extra mile, and think about their character: who you are when no one is watching.
