Danielle Jones
Program Manager
Mecklenburg County’s Air Quality Environmental Program
Danielle Jones is a program manager for Mecklenburg County’s Air Quality division, the local air quality agency in Charlotte, NC. She oversees the Monitoring program, which focuses on maintaining a network of five federally-approved monitoring stations to determine compliance with health-based air quality standards. The data collected from the monitoring stations is used to generate an Air Quality Index value that allows county residents to make informed decisions in order to protect their health. Danielle has eight years of diverse air quality experience that she brings to her current role, including work as a Senior Environmental Specialist in the agency’s Permitting group and managing the Federal Asbestos NESHAP Program.
Danielle firmly believe that the lack of diversity in many STEAM-related careers is linked to limited exposure and understanding amongst youth about these careers and how people in these careers impact every facet of our lives. Let Me STEAM is committed to the work it will take to remove barriers that limit minority involvement in STEAM-related career fields, and I am eager to support the organization in their efforts.
